10 Days Post Surgery #2

Things are much better now that the tight elastic bands have been removed. I'm taking in a wider variety of blended soups and it's great being able to actually brush after *eating*. What's better, my bite is stable and hasn't shifted over the past couple of days. My hope is that Surgeons will decide to scale back the use of the guiding elastics to night-time use only rather than only taking them out for meals and brushing.

My next appointment is this coming Monday ... will update more afterwards. In the meantime, here's a photo I took just a few minutes ago:

I still have residual swelling on the inside of both cheeks as well as the chin and lower lip area. From what I've been told, it could take several months for all of the swelling to go away.

Hello handsome! Looking good! I have my doctor appointment on Monday too. I pray we both have good news! Eat well. Rest often and read some good books for me too! I love ya bunches.

Hey Bill, is it my imagination or do you have like no swelling? You look tired but great. I would guess that your surgeon would want to keep the rubber bands on for a good while yet to give your bones time to heal and settle into the new position. I actually kept my rubber bands on for as long as my ortho would allow it. You do get used to them. M

Hey Angel ... here's hoping for some good news at your Doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Mary, the photo hides the swelling well. I still have residual swelling on the inside of both cheeks as well as the lower lip / chin area. Hardly noticeable if you don't know me. You know, I'm getting used to the rubber bands now ... and I especially like them at night because I don't want to have to worry that I might lay in the wrong position and accidentally throw the alignment out of whack.
